Do You Want to Live in Hillsborough or Burlingame? Now's the Time to Play Let's Make a Deal

So, you're out there looking at houses every weekend, but you're sure we haven't hit the bottom in the real estate market so you're afraid to make that offer.   I hate to tell you, but there's no way to know when we hit bottom until after it's happened and the market is rebounding.  Forget trying to time it, it won't work.  It's time to play Let's Make a Deal!  Make that offer, make it low, because who knows, you just might be able to buy that house you're coveting in Hillsborough or Burlingame.

The Seller's Market days are gone and if the house you like, or even the house you're not totally in love with but can deal with, has been on the market for a while, make an offer.  You might be surprised and get it.  It's time to wheel and deal.  Remember Monty Hall urging you to do something?  Now is one of the best times in the past fifteen years to really make a deal in your favor.

Foster City Homeowners Do You Know What Needs to Be Permited Before You Do it?

Occasionally, I have clients ask me what they can and should do to improve their homes. I tell them it's the usual stuff, paint, landscape, keeping things in working order and updating where feasible.  In Foster City almost anything you do will require a permit from the City.  I can't begin to guess how many people out there haven't done that.  It's likely to be a large number because I'm going to list everything you must get a permit for below.  But before I do that, there at 8 things that also require an Architectural Review permit, as well!  And, if you live on the water, you might also need a Use Permit, as well.

Hillsborough and Foster City Have Disappeared!

If you live in Hillsborough or Foster City you have disappeared!  You no longer exist.  At least as far as the United States Postal Service is concerned.  Yup.  You no longer exist.  Poof you're gone.  Last week the USPS consolidated zip codes and eliminated any and all cities or towns that share a zip code with a second city.  The "owner" of the zip, such as Burlingame in the case of Hillsborough, or San Mateo in the case of Foster City is now the name of your community.

This has been going on for a while and you are aware of it if you live in one of these two cities.  You order something

Burlingame Market Update

It's been a while since I posted any information about the Burlingame real estate market.  Altos Research sends me reports weekly on all of the seven sister cities we cover but frankly the market has been so slow it hasn't been worthwhile posting these until now.  Spring has sprung.  We are beginning to see listings come onto the market, and lots and lots of people are out looking at homes.  Hopefully, to buy them.  Burlingame only had 38 homes for sale last week.  It's gotten better this week - a whopping 41!  Shoot off the rockets, we're off to a good start!   Seriously folks, that's not a lot of houses for sale, is it?
